Welcome to Grade Four! It's been a busy week of getting to know each other and learning the ropes in grade four!
Looking back!
We completed a group challenge in math where we worked collaboratively as a table group to find numbers in a sequence. Students needed to communicate and work together to increase the number they were able to get to in 3 minutes.
We made mosaic name tags out of magazine scraps. It was great practice persevering, taking care of materials and using time wisely.
Looking ahead!
Meet the Teacher Night is on Thursday, September 11 from 4:30 to 6:30. Please drop into the classroom during that time to meet me and see our space. Check you child's back pack on Monday for a Student Information form. You can send it back anytime or bring it with you on Thursday.
Students will be setting up their Me Museums Thursday afternoon and you'll be able to see them at Meet the Teacher. Students will be bringing home their Museums on Friday.
The Terry Fox Run is on Friday, September 12 at 9:00 and students are encouraged to bring a twoonie for Terry to support cancer research. If we reach our fundraising goal of $1150, we’ll celebrate the following week with a special “Wear Your Favourite Sports Swag” day! Please ensure students dress for the weather and have proper running shoes, a water bottle and an extra snack.
Some notes for the year:
- Thank you for leaving toys and electronics at home.
- Please ensure your child has a pair on indoor running shoes that can be left at school.
- We recommend 20 minutes of reading a night and any practice of basic math facts is greatly appreciated.
- Our library day is on Thursday.
Finish Up Friday:
Starting next week we will have Finish Up Friday in our classroom. Throughout the week students are given adequate time to complete tasks. Any tasks that are not completed are stored in a Finish Up Folder and students are given time to complete work on Fridays. Any work that it not finished will be sent home on Fridays and can be returned the next week when complete.
