This week in Grade Four:

We finished our name art! It's inspired by graffiti artists and students worked with pencil crayons, sharpies and paint to create their masterpieces! We also completed a writing assignment using our notes from our Name Research.

We talked about hazard symbols in Science and are done our first unit. Students will be bringing their Science Notebooks home to review the important vocabulary in this unit. We will be having an assessment next Thursday, November 20. Please return your child's notebook to school before next Friday.

We're working on arithmetic sequences in math! We can identify increasing and decreasing patterns and write rules to express how they change. We also looked at patterns that grow in different ways including the Fibonacci Sequence.

Coming Up:

We are excited to welcome a Student Teacher to our classroom. She is a first year education student at St. Mary's University and will be working with us for the next 3 weeks!

We started our Spotlight Reader Presentations this week. Students brought home a notice, a schedule and rubrics last week. Thank you for helping your child practice reading out loud at home and for making sure they have their book the day of their presentation!

With the wet weather outside it has become very necessary for students to have a pair of indoor shoes. Please send your child's shoes back to school next week.

Finish Up:

Thank you for checking in with your child on Friday's to see if they have any Finish Up work. Students can return Finish Up work to the Hand In Bin as soon as it is complete.
