This week in grade four!
In Social Studies we are learning about treaties and examined the Two Row Wampum Belt which was created in 1613. It represents a treaty between the Haudenosaunee and Dutch. The design represents peace, friendship and respect. Students were inspired to create their own design to represent their promise to the world. We made ours out of beads.
In Math we are working on factorizing numbers! We have learned how to check the factors of a number by going in order which helps make sure we don't miss any factors. We're using this skill to classify numbers as prime or composite based on how many factors they have.
Coming up!
We'll be recognizing Valentine's Day on Wednesday, February 11. Students are invited to bring cards for their classmates if they'd like. We have 29 students in our class. Please do not send food or treats with your child. It will also be Red and Pink Day!
Book Talks have started. Your child has a planning sheet with the day of their presentation on it. This time students selected a chapter book to read and are preparing a short speech to share with the class. Thank you for helping your child prepare and practice their speech at home!
Please return your Field Trip Forms as soon as possible.
There is no school for students on February 12 and 13 for Teacher's Convention. Monday February 16 is Family Day and there is no school for students.
